About Intake
Intake Services are the first step in accessing support through Kahnawà:ke Shakotiia’takéhnhas Community Services (KSCS). Whether you’re facing a crisis or looking for long-term assistance, our team is here to listen, assess your needs, and guide you toward the services and resources that are right for you. Intake services are located at the Family Services Building and are available during regular business hours.
Our Intake Process
The intake process typically begins with a brief, confidential interview to understand your situation and what support you're looking for. This helps us determine the level of urgency and connect you to the appropriate program or service within KSCS. Whether it's mental health support, help with family challenges, or a referral to another service, we’re here to make that process smoother.
We also provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and support with youth protection reports, ensuring that individuals and families in urgent situations get the help they need right away.
What Intake Services Include
Initial interview
A short conversation to gather key information about your current situation and needs.
Needs Assessment
Our team will evaluate how urgent your request is and determine what kind of support is most appropriate.
Crisis intervention
For individuals in distress or facing urgent personal, mental health, or family-related situations.
Safety planning
We work with those at risk (such as in cases of domestic violence or substance use) to create plans that prioritize immediate safety and long-term stability.
Referral & Triaging
We help direct you to the most suitable program, resource, or service within KSCS or the wider community.
Afterhours Response Services
Support doesn’t stop when the offices close. Afterhours Response Services are available from 4:30 PM to 8:00 AM, providing emergency support for those experiencing mental health crises, emotional distress, or urgent youth protection concerns.
Our afterhours team is trained to assess situations quickly, de-escalate crises, and offer emotional support. Whether you need help managing a tough moment or require immediate intervention, we’re here to make sure no one faces it alone.
