At KSCS, we believe in collaboration, shared responsibility, and engaging staff in shaping our workplace.

Our internal committees play a vital role in driving meaningful initiatives, supporting wellness, and strengthening our organizational culture. We currently have six active committees, each with a unique focus and purpose. 

Health and Safety Committee

Ex-Officio: Ashlan Phillips (Health and Safety Officer)

This joint committee of staff and management works collaboratively to identify and address risks to employee health and safety. With a proactive, solutions-based approach, they help KSCS maintain safe, responsive, and well-supported workplaces. Their goal is to reduce harm, respond consistently to concerns, and promote long-term wellness for all staff.

Strategic Planning Committee

This committee is responsible for guiding the development, execution, and ongoing evaluation of KSCS’s Strategic Plan. With a focus on clarity, efficiency, and long-term impact, they help ensure that organizational goals are met through thoughtful planning, inclusive processes, and measurable outcomes. 

Tsi Niionkwarihò:ten Committee

Co-Chairs: Mary McComber & Christine Loft 

Members: Mary McComber, Christine Loft, Patricia Zachary, Beatrice Taylor, Tom Dearhouse, Fran Beauvais, Kiersten Two-Axe Myiow, Lisa Two-Axe, Tia Karahkwenha:wi Bauersfeld, Codey Martin

This committee guides and strengthens KSCS’s commitment to the Kanien’kéha language and Kanien’kehá:ka culture. Through events, educational initiatives, and ongoing work with the Tsi Niionkwarihò:ten Program Team, they help embed cultural teachings into every level of service delivery. Their work aligns closely with KPA 1 of the KSCS Strategic Plan, aiming to make Tsi Niionkwarihò:ten a living, daily practice across the organization. 

The Sober Driver Committee 

Co-Chairs: Tish Pungartnik & Graysen Moses 

Members: Christine Taylor, Ashlan Phillips, Tammy Harris-Dearhouse, Kanerahtakwas Eve Deom, Courtney Bourgeois (Admin Support)

This committee leads the Sober Driver Program, offering safe, judgment-free rides on weekends to promote community well-being. What began as a volunteer initiative has grown into a fully funded, full-time service—thanks to strong community support and strategic collaboration. Their ongoing focus is on expanding access, ensuring sustainability, and continuing to normalize harm reduction through care and connection. 

Staff Wellness Activities Team (SWAT)

Chair: Alana Kane 

Members: Christine Taylor, Christine Cross, Corleigh Beauvais, Deborah Quinones, Lily Deer, Patricia Zachary, Rebecca d'Amico, Susannah Doxtator, Terry Horn, Lacey Jo Canadian (admin support) 

SWAT brings staff together through creative wellness and social events that boost morale and foster community. From seasonal celebrations to wellness initiatives, this team helps make KSCS a more connected and enjoyable place to work. With a successful year of events behind them, they’re excited to keep the energy going with even more fun and meaningful activities. 

Iakwatehontsanónhnha 

Chairs: Tammy Harris-Dearhouse  

Members: Ashlan Phillips-Kouri, Kawerine Silver Horne, Lily Deer, Iohserontie Rice, Christopher Zemel, Keanu Hemlock, Vivienne Walz, Clara Lewis, Adam Delisle, Kiersten Two-Axe 

This committee champions environmental responsibility at KSCS. In its first year, it has evolved from a grassroots idea into a thriving team leading efforts like Earth Day clean-ups and reducing single-use items. Their goal is to ensure the organization moves forward in ways that honour and protect Mother Earth.
