Annual Report

What We Offer

Onkwata’karitáhtshera is dedicated to promoting the wellness and health of Kahnawà:ke's community members through the following services:

Jordan’s Principle (JP)

We assist parents and guardians of children under 18 to access funding for necessary health and social services. This program supports the timely provision of services by facilitating requests for funding approval, coordinating with service providers, and ensuring the processing of payments and service contracts.

Non-Insurable Health Benefits (NIHB)

Through the Health Programs Liaison for NIHB and Jordan's Principle, we assist community members in accessing up to date information on healthcare and social services not covered by other health plans, ensuring they receive the necessary support for their health and well-being.

Community Wellness Plan

Onkwata’karitáhtshera currently oversees the management and administration of the Kahnawà:ke Health Care Professions Law that regulates health care professionals working within our territory. We fund projects through the Community Wellness Plan Initiative, ensuring that the Health Professionals Law is upheld and that community-driven initiatives align with the vision of the plan.

Health Portrait

To get an accurate picture of the true state of health within the community health priorities, Onkwata’karitáhtshera developed health portraits.

These portraits will build our community public health capacity and improve health promotion and disease prevention in Kahnawà:ke within the services and projects offered to Kahnawa’kehró:non.

External Projects

Onkwata’karitáhtshera supports and funds various external health and social projects, contributing to the greater wellness of Kahnawà:ke’s community.

Regional Health Survey (RHS)

In 2015, Kahnawà:ke participated in the RHS to gain a deeper understanding of local health and social issues. Through this survey, we collected vital data on the health habits, challenges, and overall well-being of the community, which helps inform program development and policymaking. The RHS allows us to track trends over time and address emerging health concerns, ensuring that our services meet the evolving needs of the community.
