Assisted Living Services

Assisted Living Services (ALS)

is comprised of the Independent Living Center (ILC) and Family Support and Resources Services (FSRS). The ILC is a residential program for community members living with mental health issues. FSRS includes the Family Support Caseworkers, Young Adults Program, the Teen Social Club, and Lifeskills Support Workers.

How to access: 
Call ALS at (450) 632-7730 and ask to speak with the Manager.

Intake Services

Receives all calls for services, provide immediate support to clients when necessary and to refer clients to appropriate KSCS Prevention and Support resources.

A call to 450-632-6880 will put you in touch with the appropriate resource person. In the event of an emergency, in the evenings, weekends and holidays call the Peacekeepers 450-632-6505 and ask to speak with an on-call worker.

Satahtenikonarak-FASD-HIV/AIDS-Healthy Sexuality

KSCS Prevention based initiative whose primary goals are to provide information and education to individuals and community organizations, by providing trainings and support regarding fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD), healthy sexuality, HIV/AIDS, and suicide awareness.

Parenting

Prenatal Workshops This parenting component provides and promotes programs and services which will enhance parenting skills for Kahnawa’kehró:non mothers and fathers. Parenting Teens Workshop This workshop will provide skills and tools to parents on a weekly basis. Delivered by parenting workers. Parent-Infant Interactive Workshops These workshops promote parent-child interaction through activities that stimulate development and build self-esteem as well as; it will generate parent-discussions, baby massage, presentations, parent-child exercise, snack time, tenderness time, arts and crafts, and singing songs are some of the planned activities. Nobody’s Perfect This six to eight week program is for parents with children 0-6 years old. A series of booklets are provided for parents. This program offers interactive and experiential learning exercise, and fun activities.

Traditional Services

Shakotisnien:nens - Support Counselors One on one counseling and individual counseling is offered to clients whereby a service plan is developed to offer support to various individual issues. Some areas:

  • stress management
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • self esteem etc.

Support can be given through traditional approaches as well as more contemporary delivery methods Sweats Individual sweats for one’s issues. Provided by traditional staff. Each individual is assessed and an individual service plan is developed with the individual and worker together. Traditional Cultural Teachings The traditional component of the Family and Wellness Center provides a variety of support services to enhance and or to heal the individual person, using both natural and spiritual realms of Iroquois teachings Crisis Intervention To support the individual with support through listening, talking, and sharing immediate issues. We are able to respond to crisis immediately in the community Couple and Family Counseling To provide counseling services to couples and their families. The Teen Social Club

The Teen Social Club (TSC) is an after school program for individuals aged 12-18 years, who have physical and developmental disabilities. Programming is offered to enhance life skills, to promote socialization and to provide recreational outings. In the summer months, the TSC offers a regular program which runs 5 days/week.
